  4. NOTE: The birthday date feature only seems to work with the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. It did not work properly with Netscape navigator 7.2

  5. If (1) the scrolling list of class member names, (2) the scrolling Stock Market update and/or (3) the main menu does not appear to work properly, follow the instructions on the 'Enable Javascript' page - be sure you check all Java option boxes. You may also have to download and install the Java 'Plugin' (see Free Downloads).

  6. If a TOOLBAR appears over any image you are trying to view and you do want it to display, merely right click in the toolbar and select "DISABLE IMAGE TOOLBAR". You may them decide if you wish it to be disabled this session only OR forever (note: you can always enable it in the future).

  7. This site employs DHTML concepts to generate 'Page Transitions'. Here is how you describe the transitions for entering and leaving a page:

  8. The simple black over white 'rollover' effects were achieved in the 'Student Name' menu section of the Photo pages by defining properties through use of internal Style Sheets:

  9. To display individual names when scrolling the mouse pointer over the group photographs, a client-side image map was designed using FIREWORKS 4.

  10. The animated picture (yearbook cover & CHS front door) in the upper left corner was designed and assembled to use a dissolve transition (dissolve step size=70, delay=3/100 second pause=2 seconds). It was designed with GIF Construction Set Professional Version 2.0a.

  11. If the any one or all of the 2003 Reunion photos do open open to a larger size in a new window when you click on them, one or both of the following items may be to blame:

    • Javacript is not enabled within your browser. Go to the menu item 'Enable Javascript'.
    • You are being protected from annoying 'Pop-Up' windows on the internet by a program such as Pop-Up Stopper. These types of programs will prevent the photo enlargement windows from opening. Turn the the 'pop-up window' stopper progam OFF while surfing this site. When you leave this site, turn that safety feature back on. [NOTE: This actually happens to me each time I access the reunion site.]

  12. Javascript 'Pop-Up' windows are also employed to enlarge photos on the 'Assorted Snapshots' page.

  13. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default browser, you can make CLASS OF 1961 your HOME PAGE by clicking on that option located under the image of the school doors. The code used to make this happen is a one liner as follows:

Background

This site was envisioned many years ago (about 1993) with the advent of WWW internet popularity. When the 40th reunion in Washington D.C. was announced, I knew I would not be able to attend. I did, however, wish to contribute. I began designing and scripting this site in April 2001. The first version was completed June 9, 2001. It was and is intended to be a message clearing house, a place to display portions of the class of 1961 yearbook and a virtual museum of other 1957-1961 memoribilia. This site does not accept paid advertising. Email suggestions & information and leave messages for your friends. Enjoy.

    3. Standardize appearance (look and feel) of all pages (DONE 6/24/04).
    4. Re-program using frames instead of tables to reduce loading times (I am rethinking this as industry discussions seem to discourage the use of frames).
    5. Add major cross-browser issues to the 'Help' page.
    6. Birthday calculation using Javascript are not appearing in Netscape Navigator (DONE 3/06/05).
    7. Photo snapshot enlargements using Javascript are not appearing in Netscape Navigator.
    8. Javascript Window 'CLOSE' button for snapshots not appearing is not appearing in Netscape Navigator.
    9. Make Book Cover/Door fade using FLASH instead of animated GIF.
